Parrot owners have to
consistently work at gaining and keeping a parrot's trust. Trust is essential
for successful <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parrot_training" target="_blank"><b>parrot training</b></a>, and a lack of trust often results in frightened
parrots. A frightened parrot is a biting parrot. A bite from a sun conure is
painful. A bite from a large cockatoo can land you in the hospital.<br />
<br />
If you bought your parrot from a good breeder, the bird should already be
used to humans and may be willing to interact with you immediately. Parrots that
have been re-homed or adopted from rescue sanctuaries may have been abused or
neglected by previous owners. In such cases patience and time are necessary to
gain the parrot's trust.<br />
<br />
This should go without saying, but many new parrot owners treat birds as if
they were dogs or cats. Dogs and cats are predators, and as such have very
different instincts to parrots, which are prey animals.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlvETlV74IrGvFL2oSzFRBYB4gBwm30S2aa8cZT5Cl6eqcV6bqWwAdAoSTapg6Km5lv1swOiMCgPb7t1o08rwOHgPIrbTtOL4VvsF0yNK3f8szux92D-x8xgxpFNoQ1ahF_C81pUKqtGI/s1600/Parrot+Training.jpg" /></div>
<br />
To parrots, any strange person is a potential predator. Aggressive or violent
behavior will confirm this suspicion. Physically disciplining or hitting a bird
has no place in parrot training—this just creates a fearful parrot.<br />
<br />
A common mistake when training parrots is to make extended eye contact.
Predators focused on their prey tend to stare at their intended meal. Staring
directly at pet parrots can make them very nervous.<br />
<br />
Start slowly. You may want to cuddle and play with your new macaw, but she
may not be ready for close contact. Instead, sit some distance away from the
parrot cage, where the bird can see you. Talk slowly and softly. While you watch
her, close your eyes frequently for a few seconds. This tells the parrot you
aren't a predator. When she feels comfortable with you she might close her eyes
in response to you. Called the "blink game" by some parrot owners, this is a
great trust building exercise.<br />
Over time slowly move closer until you're sitting next to the cage. If the parrot becomes upset, she's not ready for you to
be that close.<br />
<br />
Once you can sit next to the cage, start offering her treats through the cage
bars—nuts, fruit and millet sprays are popular choices. When the bird readily
accepts treats through the bars you can open the cage and start offering treats
at the cage door. Be aware, however, that nervous birds can get very possessive
of their cage. You don't want to set back all your hard work by getting
bitten.<br />
<br />
Gaining a parrot's trust is an ongoing process. If you're consistent in your
expectations, gentle but firm in your interaction with the bird, you'll find
parrot training goes much easier.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-8187454133817884002012-12-25T17:47:00.000-08:002012-12-25T17:47:12.026-08:00These Common Cat Behavior Problems Need To Be SolvedThe modern lifestyle of today has brought new possibilities for many animal
lovers to get the role of being responsible cat owners. However, the path of
responsible pet parenting is not as simple as it may seem. This is because in
the course of a pet owner, you will find several <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><b>cat behavior problems</b></a> you may
find too difficult to handle. Actually, this may be surprising to some, because
they know that behind the image stuffed cat and harmless behavior that can
become one of the most temperamental creatures I've ever seen.<br />
<br />
These behaviors happen because even though they are
actually pets, they still have their own minds and have their own feelings.
These behavioral problems in cats are usually triggered due to the usual habits
of your cat or an immediate event that bothers the animal. Here are some common
cat behavior problems and what to do with it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj9hj9bjCAyKW9N7o_qTK3a0V2YRJylELMsBNbcSdxOrtAOq6jG1O-Jbiic7i83tNCCt_Oz8rGb6O5gqY6lw5_WumorrV1gTeyT2PdxSEuohkSSgCDQ7s7HpoRKFG93CcV7An3tsdQYGI/s1600/Cat+Behavior+Problem.jpg" /></div>
<br />
Aggression-This is one of the most common behavior problems cat cat owner
will find. This is when the cat becomes aggressive in cats, animals or even
people. They can display these aggressive tendencies to intimidate. This happens
when a cat gets very stressed or frustrated about something. Sometimes this
causes damage to home furnishings and upholstery.<br />
<br />
These problems unwanted cat behavior can be resolved with proper training.
You can teach your cat to channel their aggression on other things and not
furniture or people. You can buy your cat a scratching post. This medium will
help your cat release excess energy and tension. Experts also say that
scratching posts are very useful for cat health.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg48LtE7QY9oQlvJgIvDUL6lCcK_ttecN49-NhBH-3lA4wfu7trDgpUQvWdC35LJG8q8jitjnwv2hyfLctsS7_a918nvoYiaVkhYscf6FDWZl1GpWicm-fpNWgKV9MXnc47K5rBrUYiCk/s1600/Common+Cat+Behavior+Problem.jpg" /></div>
<br />
Extreme shyness-cats, some cats have a case of extreme discomfort when in the
company of people who know. This distance is observed in the presence of
visitors who do not recognize. The reason for this is that some cats do not feel
comfortable to be around things or people who are not familiar with them.
However, with some exposure training can overcome such behavioral problems.<br />
<br />
Cat behavior problems such as shyness can be cured by gradually increasing
the size of their social environment. By getting involved in activities with
other people who will soon develop tolerance and familiarity. Training garbage
toughest problems cat behavior that can eat through training is garbage. It is
very irritating to your cat download almost anywhere in the house. This should
be corrected as soon as possible, because the longer you wait to take action the
harder it is to break your bad habit.<br />
<br />
Some experts advise pet owners to direct cat litter in the litter, and the
best way is to implement a good old reward and punishment program. There are
dozens more behavior problems of cats that one can find, but nothing that can
not be corrected by appropriate training and undying effort to teach your dog
what is right.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-88311731355706808572012-12-17T23:50:00.004-08:002012-12-17T23:50:59.287-08:00These Winter Pet Care Tips Can Help Your Pet Own A Better WinterThose adorable dog sweaters and "Muttluks" aren't just for show, even though
they are adorable! These <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><b>winter pet care</b></a> tips that you can help your pet have a
better winter.<br />
<br />
Dogs with longer hair, puppies, and smaller dogs can all benefit from wearing
a dog sweater or shirt for their ventures into the snow. Not only can a sweater
help prevent "snowballs" from forming in your pet's coat, but it can help keep
them warm too. Just be sure to remove it as soon as you get back inside.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJSV0UH8fN2PO4BXgvIb7cHpfCPi1N5xnfZc6YRvQrh2NB2EKlob7otgpUv7YV5Aw5_epsyAaYzdTlN9MR-KKt9bUwZbKX8wDUYuL9opSZu7qdxkw2NgXFSUo5w86LWwoVlpZ5jvKkW-s/s400/Winter+Pet+Care.bmp" width="400" /></div>
<br />
In the winter months it is important to knock on the hood of your car before
you start the engine. Why? Outdoor cats love to snuggle up on the engine for
warmth. This simple act could help save a life.<br />
<br />
Pets use more energy trying to stay warm during the winter, so be sure to
provide extra water, as your pet can become dehydrated more easily this time of
year.<br />
Never leave your pet alone in the car, no matter how quickly you plan to
return. It's just as dangerous to do this in the winter as in the summer, where
the temperatures in the car can change rapidly and become deadly.<br />
<br />
Consider dog booties if you take your dog for walks in the winter. This will
help protect their sensitive paw pads from ice, and salt. If you choose not to
use booties, rinse the paws as soon as you get home to remove salt and other
snow melting chemicals, which are not healthy for your dog.<br />
<br />
Don't let your dog run off leash in the winter, as they can lose their way
more easily due to the snow. Make sure you always have ID tags on in case they
do get lost.<br />
Keep your pets inside as much as possible when the weather gets too cold. If
you feel cold your pet likely does too! Make sure they have a nice cozy place to
sleep, and of course, take advantage of this time to snuggle up together and
keep each other warm!juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-49405273384242179002012-12-10T21:23:00.001-08:002012-12-10T21:23:20.856-08:00The Latest Fashion Collections For Your Dog's ClothesThe Christmas and New year celebrations are just around the corner and all
pet owners queue to grab the latest fashion collection for their <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><b>dogs' clothes</b></a>. Big
brands have released excellent designs and collections for the pets this year.
The competition among the big brands are so high that they try to come out with
outfits that can suit specific breeds of small dogs. Some small breeds of dogs
were never meant to be a symbol of fashion but the arrival of innovative and
trendy small dog clothes has changed the entire outlook. Moreover, the dog
couture has also hosted some vibrant colors and patterns for smaller dogs. So,
are you also ready to dress up your little one in style?<br />
<br />
Frankly speaking, your self-style plays a great role in the selection of a
dress for your little dog. You can either display your own style or project the
personality of the dog through trendy clothes that express their style
statement. One of the most popular fashion trend is to match the dog clothing
with your own. The little dog dresses in the same color as its owner with
matching boots, hat, glasses and collars. However, this is a very top notch look
which many owners cannot afford.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8MXN9tugDNLwSNw9pEkpfoCPmnZCgBJEC-oh-a9Fj4sYcgP82ExcDEhVyzozWo4Mi64gUAzQq1w_nL-TzXQHAVhGAFgX454caHMQ93cIxl1u98TFRWxtU5zaZjPJMb0fFMRTrOfq6Cdc/s400/Dog's+Clothes.jpg" width="301" /></div>
<br />
Another fun style in vogue this year is the display of some phrases or
sayings on the dress of your little fur animal. These dresses are customized
according to the owner's choice. Most owners prefer to get their own thoughts
published through their dog dresses. What can be more wonderful than a little
dog walking with a smart statement on its dress? These dresses are aimed to be
comfortable for the dog as well as to reflect the latest fashion.<br />
<br />
The bright lace dresses with a bough, collar and belt are getting into the
wardrobe of every tiny dog. The lace wear is complemented with a puppy lock
feather to provide a look makeover to the pet. Puppy lock feathers are hair
extensions which make the small pets appear more attractive with thick and shiny
feathers. These feathers are attached to the dog with the help of a silicon
micro-bead that can be pasted and removed easily.<br />
<br />
Rich winter coats made of mink highlighted with bright colors of fur and
topped with embroidery have been released this fall. These coats provide warmth
and comfort for the small dog in cold winters. These coats are accompanied by
Velcro necks and belly bands to provide modifiable fit.<br />
<br />
France has released a luxury wear, especially for small dogs. The handcrafted
couture coat with embodiments of beads and sequins on the top is the designer
feature of this brand. Apart from this, woolen frocks with polka dots and
matching belly belts have already hit the list of best selling small dog clothes
this season.<br />
<br />
This hands-on update on the latest trends in small dog clothes can definitely
help you choose the best outfit for your tiny pet. Dress your small dog in
fashion but never compromise on its comfort level. Small dogs are adorable and
these dresses can make them look gorgeous to everyone.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-57012558670257892462012-12-03T01:16:00.001-08:002012-12-03T01:16:45.921-08:00Advices On Healthy And Nutritive Homemade Pet FoodI have been looking for a good recipe for homemade pet food for a while. The
problem with most commercial pet food is that it's not healthy. And the
"healthy" pet food brands you can find at the store are not cheap.<br />
<br />
Cats and dogs are carnivores, and really should be eating primarily meat and
fish. Cats and dogs should also be eating a good percentage of their food raw,
not cooked. Unfortunately, most commercial pet foods are mostly made of grains,
which are not good for animals. Not to mention that they contain GMOs, since
they are not organic.<br />
<br />
This homemade pet food is made with raw organ meats — livers, kidneys,
hearts, and lungs from chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, goats, or cows. Organ
meat is anywhere from 10-100 times more nutritious than muscle meat, such as
chicken breasts and steaks. Organ meats are also very inexpensive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdqeQ0dl41zbO3YXg0oPTY6m0a2HkcSXjWCNZqdsfXhJHGCYWx1lNW47M2FH6C2c2NxwLBzAXt2FR0zkcN_H_455Qk_L2ke4ZgFVx-T0E6iTlXJmHfr45-HnkSD25bPWHUty_N98M9UzY/s400/Homemade+Pet+Food.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
I typically feed our cats natural dry cat food just because it's easy and I
don't have time to give them fresh food every day. I feed them this homemade pet
food as often as I can. Nutritionally, this recipe really makes up for the rest
of the time they are eating dry cat food.<br />
<br />
This recipe is not for every day and should not be a substitute for pet food
all the time. This recipe doesn't include ALL the nutrients that a dog or cat
needs. I am not a pet nutritionist. I was not aiming at a nutritionally
complete, well-balanced dog or cat food when I wrote this post. I just wanted to
share a pet food that I make for our cats that they love. (See above: I only
feed them this every so often and the rest of the time they get dry cat food.
And please, no comments about how I shouldn't feed them dry cat food.<br />
<br />
This homemade pet food can be made ahead and frozen in batches. It will keep
for years in the freezer. For freezer storage, ice cube trays work great — when
frozen, pop out the cubes and store them in large freezer bags.<br />

When it comes to our <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet" target="_blank"><b>pets</b></a>, there are places where cost cuts are
appropriate and other areas where it is not advisable to take short cuts. Here
are some suggestions for those that wish to provide top of the line care for
their dog or cat without going bankrupt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhldEKSGBFkl8jgZ-Mhig-JOsqawp4z59XLSE1H4gSxF0PKilhMW6WW1QHRA2ld_hAuC-LcA4VSGQSuRNaGU4kXfNeP5Pl3tVTki9LPqQ6bm7cDhWegdZRsttacCSNOXT4Oak53aqs9zHc/s1600/Pets.jpg" /></div>
<br />
Feed a high quality pet food. Meeting your pet's nutritional needs is one of
the most important things you can do to keep your pet healthy. Different pets
have different needs and there is no one-size-fits-all food that is suitable for
all pets. If you are unsure about which food is best for your dog or cat, ask
your veterinarian for a recommendation. Feeding a high quality pet food may cost
a little more up front but it will save you money in the long run through lower
health care expenses. Keep in mind though that a higher price tag does not
necessarily equate to a higher quality pet food.<br />
<br />
Buy food in bulk. As with most products, buying pet food in bulk is less
expensive than buying smaller quantities more frequently. Dry food can be stored
in airtight containers. Just remember to watch the expiration dates on pet food
products when purchasing and when feeding.<br />
<br />
Keep your pet lean by not overfeeding. Overweight dogs and cats are at risk
for many different health issues. Ultimately, overfeeding will not only increase
your pet food costs but will also increase your pet's health care costs and
decrease your pet's quality of life.<br />
<br />
Exercise your pet regularly. Regular exercise can also help keep your pet
lean and in good body condition as well as keeping muscles and joints healthy,
again decreasing health care costs and increasing your pet's quality of
life.<br />
<br />
Provide regular veterinary care for your dog or cat. Regular veterinary
examinations can help detect health issues early in their course, when treatment
is less complicated and less expensive and success is more likely. Similarly,
protecting your pet from parasites like fleas, ticks, heartworms and intestinal
parasites can help prevent health complications that can be much more costly and
more dangerous for your pet than using safe preventive measures. Many diseases
are preventable through vaccination also. However, vaccination schedules should
be tailored to meet the needs of your individual dog or cat based on lifestyle
and risk factors.<br />
<br />
Learn to do a head to toe examination on your pet at home. In between
veterinary visits, learning to recognize the signs and symptoms of illness or
disease can help you detect problems that require intervention. Intervening
early can save you money and can also save your pet from needless suffering and
pain.<br />
<br />
Make your own pet toys, clothing, bedding and even furniture. These items,
when purchased through a pet store or retailer can be quite expensive. However,
pet toys need not be fancy or expensive. My cats are just as happy chasing a
discarded milk tab. Use your creativity to create DIY toys for your pets. Many
pets are just as happy with an old blanket or comforter to rest on as they are
with a fancy expensive bed. Or you can make your own pet bed. A google search
for DIY pet projects will provide lots of patterns for everything from pet
clothing to pet beds to scratching posts and more. Use your imagination. The sky
is the limit here and many of these projects are very affordable.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-29410691644573303782012-11-12T02:01:00.002-08:002012-11-12T02:01:07.847-08:005 Easy Tips For Streamlining Cat CareMost of us wish we had more hours in the day. empties, scrubs, sanitizes, and fills your litter box or boxes with fresh
litter. All you have to do is leave the dirty litter box outside your front door
and, when you return home, you’ll find a fresh, clean litter box waiting for
you. How nice! Of course, you still have to scoop every day, but most of the
litter-box tedium is taken care of by professionals.<br />
<br />
<b>2. Auto-ship pet supply services</b><br />
<br />
How often do you realize you're down to the last can of cat food and have to
run out to the store? One way to ensure you’re always fully stocked is to order
your supplies online. Most retailers offer free or reduced shipping costs for
orders over a certain amount. Beware, though: Cat litter is often excluded from
the good shipping deals!<br />
<br />
<b>3. House call vets</b><br />
<br />
Vets who make house calls are a growing trend in veterinary care. It makes
sense, doesn't it? After all, taking a cat to the vet can be a traumatic
experience for the cat and the owner. Also, if you're someone who can't or
doesn't like to drive, house-call vets are a helpful service. The vets travel
with basic equipment (but sometimes treatment requires a trip into the office)
and typically charge an extra fee. Ask your vet if she offers house calls -- you
might be surprised she does! If she doesn't, a few calls or Google searches
should yield vets in your area willing to pay your kitty a visit.<br />
<br />
<b>4. Pet chauffeur service</b><br />
<br />
Believe it or not, there are pet chauffeurs available to take your cat to
appointments at the vet or groomer. Some transport services will even drive your
cat cross-country. Many animal hospitals and vet offices will now pick up your
cat, take him back to the office for treatments or check ups, and then return
him back to you.<br />
<br />
<b>5. In-home cat grooming</b><br />
<br />
Much like going to the vet, going to the groomer can be extremely traumatic
for some cats. Enter the mobile cat groomer! They can come to your home and
beautify your baby on site. This can save your time and save your cat the
anxiety of a car ride and visit to unfamiliar surroundings. Plus, you can learn
a lot about your cat from a groomer who is there, in your home, allowing you to
observe the process. When looking for one, make sure to check with grooming
salons to see if they have someone on staff who makes house calls. They may
offer but not advertise the service.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-78491096777417210652012-11-08T01:51:00.000-08:002012-11-08T01:51:01.606-08:00How Much Nutrition Your Dog Food NeedMaintaining the health of your dog is an essential part of having a pet and
proper maximum dog food nutrition is one of the most important things you can
do. A healthier pet is a happier pet, a dog that will wait for you at the door
when you come from work. To make this happen there are a few things you have to
take into account while caring for your dog and one of the most important is
your dogs eating habits. Correct maximum dog food nutrition is the proper way to
help your dog stay healthy as long as possible. To find out the correct <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.kr/" target="_blank"><b>dog food</b></a>
nutrition you need to consult a vet who can give you advice about the ratio of
vitamins and proteins your dog needs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHn1RHDa8pPMObwW_GNtp9GAt1RepOJc48t9Jf9ZMDmC9DNlqs6WVn_ayxVrzYWRk6O02ReYCmP7Tql2uL8IxquZQ0nbKWcX_4wWDezWE1Phyphenhyphent8fqJJzc6nOqKunjYexs0yKE8Ig5O5tA/s400/Dog+Food.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
When going to the vet, you can find out your dogs health state and can ask
many questions, even if you already know the answer, reassurance is always good,
and the visit to the vet is also good for your pet. Ask your vet about the food
your dog should be eating, don't just give your dog any food that states "dog
food nutrition". Feeding a dog is like feeding a kid and giving it the
appropriate amount of nutritious food is essential for their health. The correct
dog food nutrition is given according to their weight, height, breed, age, and
metabolism.<br />
<br />
One of the most important things to consider when buying food for your dog is
the dogs age. A puppy will eat certain things and definitely much more vitamins
and proteins than an adult dog. Each phase of their growing has its
correspondent feeding phase. Jumping over a phase might do your pet a lot of
harm even in the end. When it comes to feeding our pets, we have to pay the same
attention we pay to our diet. Nutritional dog food is adapted to each dog’s
needs taking in account their age and medical condition first. If you keep in
mind that your dog is unique, then you also know his needs are unique and his
nutritional dog food should be customized.<br />
<br />
To have your dog at his peak health, you should keep in mind certain things
when going shopping for dog food. You have to know what the food contains before
you buy it. Make sure the nutrition dog food has the right amount of minerals,
proteins, vitamins, fats, and carbohydrates that will help your dog stay
healthy.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-72714826917415828552012-11-03T01:38:00.000-07:002012-11-03T01:38:13.890-07:00Cat Care Tips For BeginnersCats are one of the most preferred pets after dogs. While dogs are huge and
many people are also scared of the tempered dogs, cats are a calm pet that can
be easily handled and cared for. When you buy or adopt a stray kitten, you have
to be careful as they are sensitive. If you are a beginner and wish to know
about cat care, here are few basic tips for you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOy4hzVsrmnx6DHUB4kixpW096OpE23HteA-j_E3dJIQ_fYCMEXnVCpD_dDi5k43YXrrUEZSM4x9JWWLNfCgsDidV76homsPO0Wm5wnyRDhXl39BtaMozRDKkcu9aKcahV_ymx2I59e5o/s1600/Cat+Care.jpg" /></div>
<br />
<b><a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Cat care</a> tips for beginners:</b><br />
<ul>
<li>The young kitten needs twice the amount of nutrition when compared to an
adult cat. Although they need more nutrition, this doesn't mean that you should
over-feed them. After 5-6 weeks, start giving 4 meals every day.</li>
<li>Do not give in much amount. Feeding small amount of meals at short intervals
will balance the quota of nutritional supply and also fill the stomach of the
cute little kitten.</li>
<li>Never feed dog food to your kitten or even cat. Taurine is a nutrient that
cats need to prevent heart diseases and blur vision. Dog food doesn't contain
taurine. To give proper nutrition, only give cat food.</li>
<li>After 8-10 months, do not feed just milk and cat food. Make the kitten used
to some home food like boiled rice, yogurt and milk. This will make it easy for
the cat to develop a taste towards home food.</li>
<li>Do not need to bathe the kitten regularly. When the cat fur or coat starts
smelling, then you can bathe the kitten with cold water. Hot water can damage
the fur and also irritate the skin of the cat.</li>
<li>Go out and play with your kitten. Physical activities will help be good for
the growth and development of the kitten.</li>
<li>Make the kitten used to the eating, sleeping and potty place. Take them there
regularly and this will make them learn.</li>
<li>If you let your cat bat a paw on you then they will take it for granted. Draw
a line of acceptable behaviour and be little strict. Cats are very stubborn and
caring for them can be difficult in later stages if you do not become
strict.</li>
<li>With the growing age, you have to wash the teeth, clean ears and cut nails of
the cat. Paws are very prone spots for germs and bacteria to attack. This can
cause infection and also spread mud on the house floor. Cut the nails and keep
them clean.</li>

Whoever told you otherwise is lying.
In fact, the hardest part about getting a new pet is choosing it. And this is
true, whether you are getting a dog or a cat.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.kr/" target="_blank"><b>Pet cats</b></a> are always so delightful to keep. But like people, not all cats are
the same. There are several different cat breeds in the world and not all of
them may suit you. That is why it is important that you exercise great care and
discrimination when choosing cat breeds that are right for you. But how? You
might find yourself asking. Especially with so many cat breeds around. They all
look so adorable; if you were allowed and if you could afford it, you'd take
them all!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKJTGAjOxDvaSPIGgGvb1ROexBU-TsCzlpcCjcnzwE5_dOB4mYTaz6C42_eoB_9-i1fxG2SrLgyriHzaY1ZxRb7Ozk5TjbejPmbSSvnn2qdWdEzQE9Dc3L6o0v6q0vhIhfZ-p_ZY8_77I/s1600/Pet+Cat.jpg" /></div>
<br />
<b>Pedigree Cat Breeds</b><br />
<br />
If you like to frequent cat shows or window shop at at the local pet store,
then you have probably seen your fair share of cat breeds. Himalayan, ragdoll,
Persian, Russian blue, manx, Maine coon – hey, maybe you’ve seen it all! – and
now, you are quietly telling yourself that you have already chosen the cat
breeds that are close to your heart.<br />
<br />
But hold on for one moment. You need to know something very important about "purebred" cats. First, all breeds of cats have, at one time or another,
developed genetic defects that increased the likelihood of them contracting
certain genetic disorders and diseases.<br />
<br />
Cat breeders with years of experience in cat genetics have tried to develop
healthy breeding stocks in order to stop the transmission of any more defective
genes. Unfortunately, not all cat breeders are very concerned about their cats'
genetic background. That's why there are still many cat breeds out there that
carry the defective gene inherent in their breeds.<br />
<br />
So what does this mean for cat lovers like you? Well, just be careful when
choosing cat breeds and from which breeder you've decided to get it from. We
always recommend getting your new cat from a breeder instead of your regular,
run-of-the-mill pet store. With a breeder, it is easier for you to find out more
about the cat's background, its pedigree, and history.<br />
<br />
<b>Check Out The Cats Personality</b><br />
<br />
After checking out your cat's pedigree, the next important consideration is
its personality. Often, a cat's temperament is reflected by its particular
breed. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, you have to observe the
cat yourself in order to determine its type of personality.<br />
<br />
Bring along some cat toys with you when you go to a cat breeder's kennel to
check out the new litter. How the cat reacts to the toy will help you see how
playful a pet it's going to be. It will also help you find out how the cat
reacts to strangers, whether it is naturally friendly or wary to the point of
shy.<br />
<br />
You can also try playing with the cat yourself. If it is a kitten, you can
ask the cat breeder to take it away from its mother and the rest of its litter
mates. This way, you can play with the kitten while evaluating its interest
level.<br />
<br />
<b>Maintenance Of Certain Cat Breeds</b><br />
<br />
Last on the list of basic concerns in choosing cat breeds is the level of
maintenance you'll be dealing with. Long-haired cats obviously are more
high-maintenance than its short-haired counterparts. You'll need to at least
bath them once a week and brush their long manes frequently. If you have a lot
of time in your hands, then you'll have no problem. However, if you are busy
with work, then you'll be better off with a short-haired, low-maintenance
cat.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-17517733409610553102012-10-10T20:10:00.003-07:002012-10-10T20:10:55.704-07:00There Are 5 DIY Tips To Help You Save On Pet Care ExpensesIt is a tough time with the economy and spending for pet care is now
considered as a luxury. You can save big bucks by following some practical tips
that can cut your spending on <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><b>pet care</b></a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQdOZjInEPSU7YIKoFb-uf_9ucUR8zFgInC3X49TCUUeg8h-hRePFaPVO9z00fInolcbvxKeaej1SwCjsuZIK15NTcIwjAWoW9mo8StrGc9MfhqJAubWm5icWJWtAnsWVG_xTn4rzcIyE/s1600/Pet+Care.jpg" /></div>
<br />
<b>Here are 5 DIY and practical tips to help pet owners in tight budget save on
pet care expenses:</b><br />
<br />
1. Visit your pet's vet regularly – Visiting your vet once or twice a year
for your pets check up can actually save you from further expenses. By having
your pets checked up regularly you can prevent serious illness like heart
problems, joint pains and diabetes. Treatments and cures for serious diseases
like heart ailments and diabetes are expensive that is why it is much more
practical to have a regular visit to the vets than going to the vets when major
illness arises.<br />
<br />
2. Keep your pets away from accidents – Keeping your pets indoors like your
cats and putting your dog on a leash when walking outdoors can save you from
expenses in treatment from accidents. Letting your pets out without supervision
can lead to poisoning and road accidents, these types of accidents require
medications and sometimes lifetime treatment especially for road accidents.<br />
<br />
3. Keep your pets healthy – Proper diet to your pets will save you lots of
money from going to the vets for sickness like diarrhea, allergies and heart
problems. We should be careful when giving left over foods or table foods to our
pets for it may contain some ingredients that are considered toxins to some
pets. Garlic are bad for cats for they contain chemicals that are toxic to them
and chocolates can cause hypertension to dogs so be careful from tossing snack
foods to your pets.<br />
<br />
4. Do it yourself grooming – You can do some basic grooming like trimming the
nails and the furs and you can get some useful guides from manuals and tutorials
in the net. There are also youtube videos about properly and safely grooming
your pets like bathing, brushing the fur and teeth.<br />
<br />
5. Shop wisely – Pet maintenance can be expensive too like pet foods, collars
and toys. You can actually save by comparing pet foods and reading the label –
some dog foods have the same nutrients but differs in price. You can also save
by buying bulk and also be careful with the brands for some pet foods uses low
quality ingredients and loads it up with sugar so that your dogs and cats will
like it. You can also try shopping in the net and use coupon codes to get
discounts.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-11128835852636394022012-07-01T19:11:00.002-07:002012-07-01T19:11:27.685-07:00The Meaning Of The Noises That Chinchillas MakeIt is obvious that animals don't really talk, but they know how to
communicate with each other. There is something strange about the way same
animals look at each other that they immediately got the state of mind of their
fellow. Animals communicate to other mammals through noises; and the sounds they
make may sometimes help to grab attention from their owner. Both cats and dogs
have different ways to communicate with their owners; dogs bark if they sense a
threat and cats meow if they need to be fed NOW. Through actions, pets were able
to express their affection. It is simply the sounds that you should be wary
of.<br />
<a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/">Chinchillas</a> are not your typical
pet but it is ideal that you recognize what noises they make and what emotions
are attached to them. Noise such as grunting is the most common sound which
chinchilla are used to making. This might be the only "normal" sound they can
create on an ordinary day. Here are a few chinchilla noises, both usual and
unusual.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht03XUcEW4T-HvnLI5uhP4Eq5_OBh6nAmfvTHKy5V25xvhSF1h91sqE_RJsKcsDWpT6Kam2De5kLCmdZjJgVN2KLXk57KVcE3WA-0CE48qe98lffFEVQ_9sABbNwEmda2I-0AfaZ9akis/s1600/Chinchilla+cat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht03XUcEW4T-HvnLI5uhP4Eq5_OBh6nAmfvTHKy5V25xvhSF1h91sqE_RJsKcsDWpT6Kam2De5kLCmdZjJgVN2KLXk57KVcE3WA-0CE48qe98lffFEVQ_9sABbNwEmda2I-0AfaZ9akis/s320/Chinchilla+cat.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Grunts: Chinchillas often make this sound in many different ways to express
their special feelings.For example, for chinchilla to grab the attention and
affection of their owner, they tend to make a series of grunts. A chinchilla
grunt is quite similar to a cat's purring noise or a high pitched half-squeal
half-whisper that a dog makes every time it is trying to say ‘sorry'. If a
chinchilla makes a hoarser grunt it may be because he wants to call the
attention of its owner, another pet chinchilla or other pets and animals in the
vicinity.<br />
Shrill: A shrill will be made if a chinchilla feel frightened or bullied.
They can either make a series of shrills or they can just throw in one big
burst. In the wild, chinchillas alert their fellow "chins" about an incoming
predator by making this noise. Chinchillas inside the cage may make this sound
if they find a different animal coming near to them; especially if the
approaching animal is a big threat to them. This sound can be likened to a hiss
that a cat makes when it is in a do-or-die situation. If you hear your
chinchillas shrilling, you don't have to wait another time to come for their
rescue – no matter what the reason is.<br />
Chattering Teeth: This does not simply say that you need to get the teeth of
your little pet trimmed. When a chinchilla feels so annoyed and upset, they tend
to create this noise. Like for example, a chinchilla trying to steal his
fellow's food; their responses will create such noise. This is usually observed
if chinchillas are living in the same cage. Chinchillas have a sense of privacy,
and violation of their privacy can be the main reason of this noise.<br />
Other chinchilla noises need not to be described. For instance, if a
chinchilla is in trouble or in pain, they have the tendency of making a series
of loud squeaks. Chinchillas will make a different grunt once it is picked up by
an outsider; signifying that he doesn't like it. Most owners find these noises
annoying; so if you hear your chinchillas making these noises, better leave them
alone for a moment.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-45419341102883593752012-06-01T22:45:00.001-07:002012-06-03T18:00:41.120-07:00A Group Of Meerkats Is Called A Mob, Gang Or Clan<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;">
<img alt="A group of meerkats" border="0" height="209" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_NWFpI3spf-XiskQZC3FUWWraGk46UZ2weXYrr7ocnxtBdDucTlbkY7Ppyiy0bxeQOUT136eito3ftqUWHjwN3uNdyAhGOz72a7JHIP_XalF8DWF0l1THtSqP4U3nYV1M1NfMdtvCKJo/s320/A+group+of+meerkats.jpg" title="A group of meerkats" width="320" /></div>
Meerkats are small mammals and members of the mongoose family. They live in
all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana and South Africa.<br />
A group of meerkats is called a mob, gang or clan. A meerkat clan often
contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members.<br />
<br />
They are very social and like to reinforce their bonds by regularly
grooming other gang members.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Meerkats</a> at adulthood will grow to a standing height of 12 inches (30
centimeters) and weigh around 2 lbs. (750-820 grams). A pregnant female will
weigh around 2.8 lb. (1.1 kilos). Their legs are short and their bodies are long
and thin. Their tails are also long and thin with a dark tip. The reason for the
dark tip is to identify other gang members while foraging for food. Meerkats
forage for food with their tails in an upright position enabling them to easily
identify their fellow gang members. Meerkats reach sexual maturity at 10 months
and adulthood at 11 months. Both males and females share similar physical traits
such as short hair and gray or tan markings.<br />
<br />
The markings on their backs are unique and no two are the same. They have
dark brown or black bands around their eyes. Their ears are tipped with black or
dark brown. They have dark bands on their sides and back. Their faces and throat
are predominately a shade of white. There are four digits on each foot with very
sharp non-retractile claws which are curved. They use their claws to dig their
burrows. Meerkats also have the unique ability to close their ears, this is to
keep dirt out while they burrow, which they do quite often.<br />
<br />
Meerkat groups utilize several different burrows and move from one to
another. Each burrow is an extensive tunnel-and-room system that remains cool
even under the broiling African sun. Females give birth to two to four young
each year in one of the group's burrows. Fathers and siblings help to raise
meerkat young, teaching them to play and forage and alerting them to the ever
present danger from above. Young meerkats are so fearful of predatory birds that
even airplanes will send them diving for cover.<br />
<br />
An important daily activity for meerkats is searching or foraging for food,
which means that they require large open spaces and plenty of physical activity. CAPS has
investigated meerkat breeders and dealers in the UK and found poor conditions,
such as a small enclosure in a pet shop and a cage in the hallway of a private
home (see video below).<br />
<br />
A private dealer visited by CAPS investigators kept an adult pair in a
conservatory with a tiled floor and no access to outdoors. Babies were removed
early to ensure the female bred again and at just 5 ½ weeks old were being sold
for £600 each.<br />
<br />
In the wild, pups begin to travel with the group on foraging bouts at 4
weeks of age, and for the first three months are fed by the helpers, whilst also
being taught how to catch their own food. Early separation in captivity between
mother and young can lead to behavioural problems for the pups later on.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-2105811017309680342012-05-20T22:49:00.003-07:002012-05-20T22:49:39.662-07:00Ring-Tailed Lemurs Have Powerful Scent GlandsLemurs are primates found only on the African island of Madagascar and some
tiny neighboring islands. Because of its geographic isolation, Madagascar is
home to many amazing animals found nowhere else on Earth. Lemurs may have
floated there eons ago on "rafts" of vegetation and evolved in isolation over
countless centuries.<br />
<br />
All lemur species today are endangered due to the rapid destruction of
their forest habitat for agricultural development, cattle grazing, and human
settlement.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Ring-tailed Lemur" border="0" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZc-OHtB7FBJqePXECPREObDXRJYKejga6iZcuhdrnLZ8d3AOhq6P9aUbKn8DAtQ5J1PmYYVBCY82HH0ApqKis_z0RocNY5KkuuBwhoKDgpInMtS48Rvj6J-cwwZkwkhTnTteHOSvNAAw/s400/ring+tailed+lemur.jpg" title="Ring-tailed Lemur" width="400" /></div>
They, like their primate cousinsize="3"s the monkeys and apes, have
binocular forward vision, but must turn their heads to see ahead because their
eyes have limited movement in the socket. This gives them a wide-eyed, staring
aspect that sometimes startles viewers.<br />
<br />
The word Lemur comes from old Latin, and refers to ghosts or spirits. The
staring eyes, haunting sounds, and nocturnal ways of the lemur inspired early
observers to think of them as ghosts or forest spirits.<br />
<br />
The Ring-tailed lemur's coat is black gray, the limbs and belly lighter,
and the extremities white. Their are rings about the eyes, the muzzle is black,
the tail is banded black and white.<br />
<br />
The only place where members of the Superfamily Lemuroidea, including
ring-tailed lemurs, can be found in the wild is Madagascar. Situated to the
southeast of Africa and separated from the continent by the 800 km-wide (497 mi)
Mozambique Channel, the island of Madagascar is in the Indian Ocean and is the
fourth largest island in the world (Swindler 2002). Ring-tailed lemurs are
restricted to the south and southwestern portion of the island, reaching a
northern limit near the town of Morondava on the west coast and the town of
Ambalavao in the east. The southeastern limit is the town of Tolagnaro on the
southern coast (Mittermeier et al. 1994; Jolly 2003). Ring-tailed lemurs are
found in the vicinity of nine forests: Andohahela, Andringitra, Ankilitelo,
Berenty, Beza Mahafaly, Isalo, Tsimanampetsotsa, Tsirave, and Zombitse (Godfrey
et al. 1998).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Ring-tailed lemurs</a> have also been introduced to the United States on St.
Catherine's Island, Georgia as part of a project to establish a free-ranging,
breeding population that could be studied and in the future could potentially
serve as a source to restock parks in Madagascar (Iaderosa & Lessnau
1995).<br />
<br />
Most field studies of ring-tailed lemurs have been conducted at Beza
Mahafaly Special Reserve and Berenty Private Reserve, a family-owned forest set
aside in the 1940s (Sauther et al. 1999). They have also been studied at
Andringitra National Park, Isalo National Park, and Andohahela Nature Reserve
(Mittermeier et al. 1994). One particularly notable field researcher, Alison
Jolly, has been conducting long-term ecological and behavioral research on
ring-tailed lemurs at Berenty since the early 1960s and has contributed greatly
to the knowledge of wild ring-tailed lemurs.<br />
<br />
Long-term studies have also been
ongoing at Beza Mahafaly most notably conducted by Robert Sussman, Lisa Gould,
and Michelle Sauther. Captive research has been conducted at the Duke University
Primate Center in North Carolina since the mid-1980s and also has provided
invaluable information about the species (Sauther et al. 1999).<br />
<br />
Research on competition for resources between Verreaux's sifaka and
ring-tailed lemurs reveals that there is little direct competition for food,
even during the dry season when resources are limited. Though they naturally
have overlapping ranges in other parts of Madagascar, at Berenty Private
Reserve, brown lemurs were introduced in 1975 and they now compete with
ring-tailed lemurs for access to food. The two species have high dietary overlap
at Berenty and likely compete for similar foods during times of scarcity.<br />
They communicate with short grunting sounds as a contact call within the
troop, sometimes followed with a quick bark.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-26822178483590727582012-05-10T19:38:00.001-07:002012-05-11T18:23:26.168-07:00Hamsters Are Often A Child’s First Pets<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Cute Funny hamsters" border="0" height="345" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5S8p5vAeB_30qAAOkVsYunDIacrTy38JFpXj6dCgl339ezxDXU933_Dg9hd7zcNuttI6dmTtidJ2q-LmhAnFgBrTJnp1iusCqDEGncJGb1NEITUokieXI-LHOctra11sdGZh9Y5zoz-o/s400/Cute+Funny+hamsters.jpg" title="Cute Funny hamsters" width="400" /></div>
Hamsters are generally nocturnal animals, although in the wild they often
become active shortly before dusk. They usually sleep during the daytime, and in
the wild construct deep, dark, underground burrows for this purpose. They are
extremely good diggers and for such a small and fairly rotund animal, can be
very active. There are several different breeds and varieties of hamster,
varying in size and temperament. Typically, hamsters live for up to 2 years,
although some may live for longer.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Hamsters</a> are often a child’s first pet, principally because they are small,
charming animals with a great deal of character. However, their needs are
actually very complex and they can be easily injured by incautious handling.<br />
<br />
Each hamster has their own personality and preferences, but the general
principles of care are common to most species. They need a warm, safe
environment and should be kept indoors rather than outdoors.<br />
<br />
There are many commercial hamster foods available. Purchase a good quality
fortified diet which does not have too many fatty sunflower seeds. Hamsters tend
to gobble these down and leave the healthier foods. They also will also
sometimes move the seeds around to “caches” within the cage, so don’t always
assume that everything was eaten. Supplement your hamster’s diet with small
quantities of nutritious fresh foods daily like broccoli, carrots, apple and
other fruits and vegetables. Wash the foods well but don’t peel them. Be careful
not to feed too much fresh food or your pet can get a stomach ache or
diarrhea.<br />
<br />
Provide fresh water daily. Wash the water bottle right out, don’t just fill
it.<br />
<br />
Provide something for your hamster to gnaw on, like a clean twig from an
apple tree or commercial wood gnaws for rodents.<br />
<br />
Hamsters are solitary animals and only come together for mating. Golden
hamsters have to be separated after mating, otherwise the female may kill the
male. The gestation period of the common hamster is 19-20 days and is 15 days
for the Golden. They will have 4-12 babies at a time. Hamster babies are called
hamster pups. A mother hamster is very maternal, and, if danger threatens, she
will carry her babies away, either by putting them into her cheek pouches or
laying them across the toothless area of her jaws. Hamster pups should not be
touched for the first two weeks as the scent it leaves on the babies can confuse
the mother causing her to abandon or even eat them as she mistakes them for
someone elses babies. The babies are so tiny that you can also accidently hurt
them. By the time they are two weeks old their eyes are open and they have a
thick coat of fur. Mother hamsters wean their babies at about 3-4 weeks of age
and the babies should be separated from the mother shortly after that. A female
hamster is capable of having 2-3 litters a year.<br />
<br />
There is a wide variety of cages and housing used for hamsters. Common
caging used are 10-gallon tanks, Habitrails, stainless steel, and wire cages
(some having multiple levels, with a plastic cat litter pan bottom for easy
cleaning). Habitrail are fun for the hamsters. You can attach plastic see
through tubes and tunnels making a great home for the hamster to roam. However
keep in mind the more attachments you use the more you will have to clean. Cages
should at least be 20 square inches of floor area per hamster, and a cage height
of at least 6 inches. Since hamsters like to sleep during the day and are up all
night you may want to keep the hamster cage in a livingroom or den rather than a
bedroom so the night time noise is not bothersome.<br />
<br />
A wood or plastic house
should be provided for the hamster to burrow in. The cage should have solid
floors and relatively deep bedding. Plenty of nesting material should always be
provided. Toilet paper and paper towel tubes are great things to put into the
cage for them to chew on and make their nest. Small cardboard boxes are also
great. Common beddings used are toilet paper, shredded paper, processed corn
cob, CareFRESH, Sani-chips, Gentle Touch and wood chips. Cotton or shredded
tissue paper (Kleenex) is suitable nesting material. Some use cedar or pine
chips, however it is said that neither of these should be used as they contain
oils called phenols that can slowly cause liver and kidney failure. Some also
say you should avoid any cotton or fiber type beddings sold as nesting material.
The fibers do not break down in the hamster抯 system and can get caught in their
pouches or ingest them while eating. Be sure your hamsters cage is escape free.
Hamsters are great escape artists! Once free, you may have a very hard time
getting them back. They will chew on your wires, furniture, etc..... Hamsters
rarely return to their cages on their own.<br />
<br />
Syrian hamsters, also known as Goldens or Teddy Bear hamsters, are the most
popular hamsters kept as pets. They are very easy to handle and make wonderful
pets for children. They are not social with other hamsters however, and should
be kept alone after 10 weeks of age. If caged together, Syrian hamsters can
actually fight until they kill each other. Syrian hamsters are nocturnal, and
are rarely active during the day.<br />
<br />
Syrian hamsters come in a variety of colors, and they are one of the
largest hamsters at a length of 4" - 7" when full grown, depending on the sex.
Females can grow larger than the males, which reach only about 6" long. They
have a very short tail, large cheek pouches, and small eyes. The average life
span of a Syrian hamster is approximately 2 to 2-1/2 years, though they have
been known to live as long as 4 years.<br />
<br />
Dwarf Winter White Russian hamsters are similar in behavior to Dwarf
Campbell Russians in that they are active during the day and can be kept in same
sex pairs or groups. However, they do not have the reputation for biting when
nervous, and they are generally very sweet and personable. They are very small
and quick though, so they can be a challenge for young children to handle
safely.<br />
<br />
Dwarf Winter White Russians come in three colors: Sapphire, Pearl, and a
combination of the two called Sapphire-Pearl. Pearl is a white pattern where
white hairs are sprinkled throughout the coat, and Sapphire is a purple-gray
color. Sapphire Winter White Russians have a gray undercoat, a thick gray stripe
along their spines, and an ivory colored stomach.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-676115138100364272012-05-02T22:27:00.003-07:002012-05-02T22:27:46.909-07:00Teddy Bear Dog Has Earned Its Place As One Of The Cutest Companion Dogs<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Teddy bear dog" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYZp5ARvdA6kxMJL00DH6NQoruYEocPyB9lBc2d_HOh4wmhK9V_mN_ZSRW22xikTmi2P0FcUzT46m-RstCLplydrDFxfFFL_FP6CpqzysioVp1ijm1ZoR4ItyarWlj1mfD1mZLI2utTC8/s400/Teddy+bear+dog.jpg" title="Teddy bear dog" width="360" /></div>
Teddy Bear Dogs vary in size but are normally quite small, weighing no more
than 7-9 pounds. Because they are hybrids, it is difficult to determine what
health/temperament issues may arise. If the dog comes from purebred parents,
they will be susceptible to health problems from both breeds. If the dog is more
than a mix of two purebreds, it becomes more difficult to pinpoint potential
health issues. There are, however, ailments that are common to smaller dogs, for
example eye and ear problems, sensitivity to the cold, and bloat if overfed.
Teddy Bear dogs tend to be quite yappy and difficult to housetrain, but this can
be alleviated through proper training. Beware when you buy theTeddy Bear for
sale or Teddy Bear puppies for sale as they can become startled easily and may
nip children, so they should be monitored when in the presence of others.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Teddy bear dogs</a> are also raised for their temperament as they are very
affectionate. They make great companion dogs and most are easy to train, though
some do need firm handling. They are usually good with children. Grooming needs
will vary depending on the breed mix. These dogs can weigh from seven to seventy
seven pounds and stand nine to twenty one inches. Teddy Bear dogs are small,
cute looking doll like dogs who bark less and are apt for all dog shows and
apartment life.<br />
<br />
Teddy bears were originally bred for handicapped children, so they could
hug and squeeze them with out getting a nip and struggle and instead get licks
and love in return. Their hairs are smooth, silky and straight. Thus many
beautiful hair styles can be tried on them specially for dog shows. Teddy Bear
dogs also like wearing beautiful cute looking dresses and do not mind them. They
are very good with all types of games like swimming, catching games etc. and
they learn all sorts of tricks easily. They adore their owners very much and
love to play with them. They are quite sturdy, quite comfortable and happy to
play with young children. Teddy bear puppies can be further designed to form
more cute looking dogs with the use of Euro linage. Euro linage is the genetic
coding in dog breeds with preferred features, such as size in our case the
imperial bloodlines, hair coloring in our case selected standard bloodline, and
structure in our case the Mediterranean bloodline. The lineages are carefully
selected for this purpose and there is no need of altering its breed. The
shichon is not high strung like most small dogs and has a rag doll feel to it,
when picked up or cuddled.<br />
<br />
Teddy bear puppies are small in stature, and remain small even into
adulthood, growing to a height of approximately 12 inches. They weight a light
12 to 14 pounds as adult dogs.<br />
<br />
The breed sports a soft, fluffy coat that doesn't shed like most dog
breeds. It can be clipped short into a "puppy cut" or left long.<br />
<br />
These dogs have round faces with squashed muzzles and large, endearing
eyes, earning them their namesake. They also have medium length droopy ears and
short, fluffy tails.<br />
<br />
Their coat can come in virtually any colour, giving each dog its own
uniqueness that isn't usually seen in other companion breeds such as theBichon
Frise.<br />
<br />
It is said that a dog is a man's best friend. We are familiar with
different types of dogs, some of them have been with us for hundreds of years.
Every breed of dog is admired for its characteristics or traits. Dogs of collie
breed are famous for their magnificent coat, the greyhound for their speed and
the German shepherds as police dogs. The latest trend, which for some time
remained restricted to Hollywood celebrities is now sweeping the United States
off its feet. Many individuals are paying big money to acquire a teddy bear dog
for their family. This small and cute dog has managed to win many hearts. On the
other hand, American Kennel Club, which is a registry of purebred dogs such as,
Chihuahua dogs, Bichon Frise, greyhound dogs, bulldogs in the United States,
counts this breed as a designer breed. Some people refer to them as 'mutts' to
emphasize their mix breeding; however at present, dog lovers are not interested
in this kind of branding. What is the reason behind this sudden popularity of
teddy bear dog breed?<br />juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-20836621520791445882012-04-26T22:13:00.002-07:002012-04-27T17:12:19.928-07:00Ensure That You Get Pellets Which Are Specifically Formulated For Guinea Pigs<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="guinea pigs" border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhR_rnOLlszKN6Z9V9dSeYkM4v1Whcm1pZB3lbmpnMOhpS2Nalt8oLJ-lUaRmO02rCt5Lcupip4hp9mUzJ9IjLQYzo077iR8UdeF5qo6FEvgf_CxMM0-hwEKw_5ffTOWrLe-cTIbK1OAs/s400/guinea+pigs.jpg" title="guinea pigs" width="400" /></div>
While most small animals don't want much grooming, guinea pigs are
different. Their teeth, pelt, and nails all want some express attention on a
common footing. A guinea pig's front teeth prolong to grow throughout their
intact life. If they are allowed to grow without any limit, the guinea pig will
find it upsetting to eat and will, therefore, halt intake altogether.<br />
<br />
The best thing you can do is to give your <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">guinea pig</a> with hard equipment to
chew on: carrots and other hard vegetables, chew firewood or blocks, or even
tree brushwood. Even although you offer these resources, however, you will
hardship regularly to confirm the guinea pig's teeth to make steady they aren't
fitting unmanageable. Check to see if the teeth are spinning private because
this is a show of undue growth.<br />
<br />
Generally speaking, guinea pig cages really need to be as big as your
available space and your budget will allow. You do not need to go overboard, but
it is better to give your guinea pig more room than he needs than to give him
less room than he must have to stay healthy and happy. As a guideline your
guinea pig cage should be between seven and eight square feet if you have just
one guinea pig, and between ten and eleven square feet if you have two guinea
pigs. For every additional guinea pig in your cage you will need between two and
three additional square feet of living space. If that sounds like a lot just
remember that guinea pigs need room to romp around and get exercise, and the
more exercise a guinea pig gets, the happier he's just going to be. Without
adequate exercise your pet will get fat, and overweight guinea pigs are more
likely to develop health problems, and you do not need that to happen. If your
guinea pig is lucky enough to have a 2-story home remember that the additional
levels really should not counted in providing the minimum square footage.<br />
<br />
It really should not be too difficult to find a very good quality guinea
pig cage at your neighborhood pet store. If you can't locate a cage that is big
enough you can consider making your own. It's not going to take you very long,
and it can be very rewarding. Not merely because you'll have a cage that your
guinea pig really loves, but because it will very likely outshine anything you
might have purchased.<br />
<br />
Guinea pigs should only be housed in cages composed of wire as opposed to
glass enclosures because wire cages provide much better ventilation for your
pet, and if a glass enclosure breaks it could possibly cut your guinea pig. Wood
cages are easily chewed through and for that reason usually are not your best
option for your guinea pig cage.<br />
<br />
The main food for your guinea pigs are going to be pellets. Young guinea
pigs, under 10 months old, should be fed alfalfa hay-layered pellets. However,
right after they reach 10 months of age you'll want to switch them to timothy
hay-layered pellets because alfalfa hay has elevated levels of calcium and high
doses of calcium usually aren't good for adult guinea pigs. A superb guinea pig
pellet also needs to be hard and firm, making it necessary for your pigs to
bite, chew and gnaw through it. Guinea pigs naturally enjoy chewing and gnawing
on things so your little piggies will definitely love eatingtheir hard
pellets.<br />
<br />
Ensure that you get pellets which are specifically formulated for guinea
pigs and it is therefore a complete food, meaning it has each of the right
nutrients in it. This includes an additional dose of ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
which happens to be an important supplement to your guinea pig's health. As in
humans, ascorbic acid will not be naturally produced in guinea pigs.
Deficiencies in vitamin C might cause your pet to develop scurvy. Should the
pellet food that you're feeding your guinea pig not be fortified with ascorbic
acid, supplements can be bought in pet stores and can be put into their drinking
water. Make sure you give your furry friend guinea pig approximately 20mg of
ascorbic acid supplements every single day.<br />
<br />
Your guinea pig will like to be petted in a certain way. Each has a
different way they prefer so you will be able to discover this yourself. You
will find that there are certain things you can do to produce a purr from your
guinea pig. The vocalizations are going to be covered later. There will be times
when your guinea pig wants to do its own thing. It could be that you are holding
the guinea pig and it starts to move around. In this case, just let it do what
it wants.<br />
<br />
The "Ultimate Guide to a Happy Healthy Guinea Pig" was worth the $14.77 for
all of the helpful information and bonuses that it included. It would be
especially beneficial for the beginner that never cared for a guinea pig before.
Many people do not know the proper diet for a guinea pig and their need for
vitamin C. In conclusion, I would recommend it for those that care enough to
seek out the knowledge necessary to provide their guinea pig(s) the best living
environment possible.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-4586189650492663602012-04-17T19:49:00.004-07:002012-04-19T02:24:22.821-07:00Dress Up Your Dog And Make It Stands Out<div class="KonaBody"><div class="KonaBody"><div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="Dress up dog" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjesOnbNhwd1VFBo3rSBbxwQzzeYN3nEkOt9ZiHlLz6ikWN5P9Uag2C_YyGFFxJt1Fo8Eb1RbBkCO3mBErhxBLyNBls6K6PltISW0C6tHpfWPUdWYZ4jTeLeHXBsLUU3bQ1zP0a8QhmT-M/s320/dressed-dogs.bmp" title="Dress up dog" width="280" /></div>Are your satisfied with the way your pet dog is dressed? African Pygmy hedgehogs are 4 - 9 inches in length and their life span is around 4 - 6 years. Though they prefer their natural habitat, they can be easily tamed. They should be adopted or bought from a regular hedgehog breeder who has some experience in handling them. To make them familiar with human handling, it is always better to get a young hedgehog. A list of prerequisites to keep the African Pygmy hedgehog as pet is as follows.<br />
<br />
<b>Housing</b><br />
African Pygmy hedgehogs require very little space. They can be kept in a cage measuring around 3 - 5 square feet with a solid floor space and should have some wood shavings as their bedding. The cage should be big enough to accommodate a shallow litter box, a wheel for exercising, some space for food and water and a small tunnel-like area to make them feel secure. Hedgehogs prefer a solitary and warm atmosphere around them so make sure that the temperature within their cage is around 75°F. Being nocturnal creatures, they are active during the night. The cage should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to avoid skin infections and other problems.<br />
<br />
<b>Diet</b><br />
Hedgehogs are insectivores; they mainly feed on worms, bugs, insects, snails, frogs, etc. and also fruits and nuts at times. Domesticated hedgehogs can be given dry cat food that are low in fat. Commercial hedgehog food and prepared insectivore diet can also be fed. They consume food that equals to 1/3 of their body weight every night. Clean, freshwater should be made available for their drinking. African Pygmy hedgehogs tend to grow obese, so care should be taken to feed them low fat food. They should also be exposed to exercise on a daily basis.<br />
<br />
<b>Health</b><br />
African Pygmy hedgehogs can be prone to major illnesses like cancer, wobbly hedgehog syndrome (which is a neurological degenerative disease) and minor illnesses like allergies, digestive disorders like diarrhea and vomiting, respiratory illnesses, tooth and gum diseases, etc. In case of any of these, a veterinary doctor should be consulted and the hedgehog should be treated accordingly. They can also show signs of depression and stress if not provided with a comfortable atmosphere. At such times they appear inactive and refuse to eat or drink. They should also be taken to the veterinarian for annual checkups.<br />
<br />
<b>Handling</b><br />
The African Pygmy hedgehog should be handled with utmost care and tamed gently. Initially, they might not agree to be cuddled or held. They curl into a ball and uncurl once they know that you intend no harm. <br />
<br />
If you are looking for a loyal companion in your pet, you could find one in the African Pygmy hedgehog. An African Pygmy hedgehog can make a great pet just as any other domesticated animal with little care, love and pampering.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-13194748554044756212012-03-31T00:01:00.001-07:002012-03-31T00:01:55.313-07:00Know More About The Facts Of Giant African Land Snail<div class="separator" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisuZsVmRmJNXHoPShDsMaXHPOiUNWoSjOrwHWRoA9ZTvKNFd3S_sl2PcNg-fh8WbWvq4owf3Jq6VGUFxFhf5Jj5LVi7jFpdm-jq4CdgQnJMocI68mXy63jwszB-_LzrTKcamsesAhb0Mo/s320/Giant+African+Land+Snail.jpg" width="320" /></div>The <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">giant African land snail</a>, is the largest species of snail found on land and generally grow to around 20 cm in length. The giant African land snail is native to the forest areas of East Africa but has been introduced into Asia, the Caribbean and a number of islands in both the Pacific and the Indian oceans.<br />
<br />
The giant African land snail is generally seen as a pest as these snails will eat almost anything vegetarian that they can find and have proven to be quite destructive when around crops and wild flowers. Giant African land snails are also known to carry parasites and are illegal to keep as pets in some countries such as the USA.<br />
<br />
The giant African land snail (Achatina fulica) is a threat to the sustainability of crop systems and native ecosystems, having a variety of negative impacts on native fauna, from competition for resources to the spread of diseases to direct herbivory of native plants. Native snails in fragile island ecosystems such as Hawaii and the French Polynesian islands are particularly susceptible to the negative effects of A. fulica and other introduced snails. The best way to prevent the further spread of A. fulica is by strengthening international quarantine systems.<br />
<br />
Suggested preventative measures must include strict quarantine measures to prevent introduction and further spread. Many methods have been tried to eradicate the Giant East African Snail. Generally, none of them have been effective except where implemented at the first sign of infestation. Methods include hand collecting, use of molluscicides, flame-throwers, and the failed attempts at biological control discussed below. In some regions, an effort has been made to promote use of the Giant East African Snail as a food resource, collecting the snails for food being seen as a method of controlling them. However, promoting a pest in this way is a controversial measure, as it may encourage the further deliberate spread of the snails.<br />
<br />
One particularly catastrophic attempt to biologically control this species occurred on South Pacific Islands. Colonies of A. fulica were originally introduced as a food reserve for American GI's during the second world war, but naturally escaped. A carnivorous species from East Africa, a known predator of the East African Land Snail was introduced, but instead heavily predated the native Partula, causing the loss of some species.<br />
The giant African land snail is native to humid, forest areas but can today be found in agricultural areas, coast land, natural forest, planted forests, shrublands, urban areas, and wetlands. The giant African land snail is seen to be highly invasive species and large colonies of land snails can be formed from just one individual.<br />
<br />
Giant African land snails have both male and female reproductive organs. Although giant African land snails primarily mate with one another, in more isolated regions the giant African land snail is capable of reproducing by itself. Giant African land snail lay around 6 clutches of eggs every year, laying an average of 200 eggs per clutch. Around 90% of snail hatchings survive meaning that a snail free area can quickly become infested.<br />
<br />
Giant African land snails are active during the night and spend the daytime hours safely buried underground. Giant African land snails reach their adult size by the time they are 6 months old and although their growth rate slows at this point, giant African land snails never stop growing. Most giant African land snail reach between 5 and 6 years of age but some giant African land snail individuals have been known to be more than 10 years old.<br />
<br />
During periods of extreme drought, the giant African land snail goes into aestivation (summer sleep). The giant African land snail seals itself inside it's shell to retain water and giant African land snails do this about 3 times a year, depending on the areas in which they inhabit.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-54903211524740327282012-03-22T23:11:00.005-07:002012-03-22T23:39:54.074-07:00The Most Effective Way To Train Your Hunting Dog, Learn It By This<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="hunting dog and black beer" border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipahlzQ65pmaiTe5_ZS3lANngncauZ6b7KSJL9WjVo5MC8l4ie1h-8fqundmToWWdX1esf0PXq9IR-t5voCT3eTk8as_wLwItLxR_bX_o6-VTVNeSMa5_d3nKscG87SKP4yD6lNs5lcjo/s320/hunting+dog+and+black+bear.jpg" title="hunting dog and black beer" width="320" /></div><a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/search/label/hunting%20dog" target="_blank">Hunting dogs</a> help humans while hunting, as they are trained in such a way that they can easily track down a dead prey or find a live one. Training hunting dogs requires time and patience on the part of the dog owner. It must be kept in mind that training dogs for hunting is not a temporary task and requires a consistent approach. There are many types of hunting dogs and around 24 dog breeds can be trained to assist for hunting.<br />
The choice of hunting dog depends on the kind of hunt it will be used for, and the climatic conditions prevailing in the hunting area. For example, hound dogs can run at very high speeds and are used when hunting for live prey, while gun dogs are trained because they easily get familiar with gunshot sounds and are good while retrieving birds. To train a hunting dog, you first need to get one. After getting the dog of your choice, follow the tips given below so as to prepare it to accompany you for a hunt.<br />
<b>Begin Early</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="hunting dog on a tree" border="0" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirPM4ejSt7XMtDwDZBCakaZGEmiZu4MA_52H1z3PIyYVUxYcx_WmeR6-X7sWcZGktVzjJuIDNhxez1jUisZdurpWMpCBhzijEHggEeUwsDa2FvnysXbG1U7H0mwmbHbHYYBidsnHkI9pI/s320/hunting+dog+on+a+tree.jpg" title="hunting dog on a tree" width="320" /></div>Any form of dog training must begin early because it is easier for dogs to learn new things when they are young. This also helps the dog owner to develop a strong, trustworthy bond with his dog. A strong bond with the owner will make the dog pay more attention to what his owner is teaching. Typically, training for hunting dogs can be started when they are seven weeks old. By beginning hunting practice from such a young age, hunting dogs become proficient by the time they mature.<br />
<b>Use Easy Commands</b><br />
Start the training by teaching basic obedience commands to the dog. Use easy commands like 'sit' or 'stay' to train your dog. Once the dog starts responding to simple commands, you can start using complex commands to train it. However, it is better to find out easy alternatives to complex commands because dogs find them easy to learn, identify and relate to. Use treats to appreciate the dog each time it responds in the right way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="hunting dog in field" border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1TAQP8zu4BXkeYXGrl2PN9_sr1wqV3aLSy4KZlVcZjTA_rcaTlRGFJ-Irs00L8yoEoKi3JNtVczV4cUctV8bA9JkiQ_QyRRDCXPEvMLDdrZqzk2enp1WwcwlQ4QqUwcT9UDZe5uhRR_o/s320/hunting+dog+with+war+trophies.jpg" title="hunting dog in field" width="320" /></div><b>Provide Physical Training</b><br />
Physical fitness is extremely important for hunting dogs. Physical training must also begin at a young age to build body muscle. Hunting dogs must have a lot of stamina to continuously look for prey and track them after they are pinned down. Exercising regularly helps in developing stamina and speed in dogs. The exercising routine must not be restricted to the hunting season, rather it must be even continued during the off-season, to prevent the dog from becoming lazy when not hunting.<br />
<b>Train to Identify Prey</b><br />
A hunting dog must be quick enough to identify where the prey is. Smell and sight are two ways of prey identification. Generally, dogs trained to identify smell are more capable of spotting their prey than the ones who are trained to identify through sight. To make the training easy, use a hunt-based scent so that the dog identifies the smell and tracks down the prey while hunting. If the dog has to assist in hunting deer, use deer blood to train your dog, and if it has to go waterfowl hunting, use waterfowl scent for training.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="hunting dog with a gun" border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8FAkVms41oDzUJ726t2YMqhJDc6IQ0LdwjTRDCUTit7tvvLQhpsGQ3BG1tI5zAtZJp42MGY5uVeLMEsBS-w1JuGXCtiROJccWpitvSYDhyphenhyphengcosLbZvLwXw38JCALtFdOY4UscSX2Il3c/s320/hunting+dog+with+a+gun.jpg" title="hunting dog with a gun" width="320" /></div><b>Exposure to Proper Climate</b><br />
Climatic conditions during the hunting season may be different from that prevailing during the off-season. So never forget to train your dog during the hunting season, so that it gets used to the environmental conditions prevailing during that season. If the dog is trained only during the off-season, then chances are that it may not perform well during the hunting season.<br />
<b>Use Dummies for Training</b><br />
If you want your dog to hunt for waterfowl, use waterfowl dummies that are available at the local pet store. Train well, so that it can clearly differentiate between a decoy and a real waterfowl. Place decoys at various places in the training area and throw a dummy near the decoys. Let your dog trace the dummy through its scent and get it back without picking up the decoys. Treat your dog each time it picks the right dummy so that it can relate this activity with a treat.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="hunting dog over a river" border="0" height="204" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizTXsSlOakC5N95-9XvAE4LHIsM6ZXgAKAtkhyphenhyphenii2gaC5GdRLJmUq2Gq5-OmhsePB4VTnEbtKIWW5QkA76unBsTXYZViCpJ16Nj_QsYtDUdZNZ8VjAgv3FmUnoxnCKuVnleRsU-HfYsBE/s320/hunting+dog+over+a+river.jpg" title="hunting dog over a river" width="320" /></div><b>Train Daily</b><br />
Training is not meant to be for a few days. Consistent training all through the dog's growing years is necessary to turn it into an expert hunting dog. Follow a proper routine of training sessions to inculcate hunting habits in your dog. Repeating the same activity several times will help the dog to remember it well, and do what is needed if a particular command is given or a situation arises.<br />
<b>Praise and Reward</b><br />
Dogs love to make their owners happy and hunting dogs are no different. Praise your dog when it follows your instructions or completes an activity without making any mistake. Reward your dog with treats whenever it identifies the prey correctly or does its job well. Rewards reinforce positive behavior in dogs. Your dog will do anything to please you, and it is your responsibility to love and reward it in return.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="a hunting dog" border="0" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHSPjUaZMu-ITZMKRufqjvnfIgd-fTtVeRZdF-LIu-iy7AxOYZSvTBL_ztmzbSZQoJIX0QXaiJw19JM7tW8MVvSA8EAvjKRILVqODHtfkeKX2QKuLI_JuH51tLQWAcxGFb7-3yt7DdzEU/s320/a+hunting+dog.jpg" title="a hunting dog" width="320" /></div><b>Simulate Hunting Situations</b><br />
Before taking your dog to the actual hunting field, try practicing in simulated hunting situations. By doing so, the dog will perform well as a hunter during actual hunts. Training in restricted situations fails to provide the actual feel of hunting because of which, the dog may not perform the way it is expected.<br />
<b>Keep It Simple</b><br />
Make the training as simple and enjoyable as possible. This will help in retaining the dog's interest during training sessions. Instructing the dog using complex commands and being harsh will turn off your dog's interest in learning new things.<br />
Initially, you may find it difficult to train your dog because it may not respond the way you want. But slowly and steadily, with consistent practice, your hunting dog will learn its ways and serve you for many years with loyalty.juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201110763129533385.post-38901929196253630852012-03-15T03:07:00.002-07:002012-03-15T19:15:09.218-07:00Different Species of Rabbits<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY8LOISuyYH_r-dFDffsbixRdQ-u8rO-QlXWHFk7f2Iboi0n2VVAblYvMSc1Gc0sJdEJpjNFUyaZRu4g4XPF4tBXs9ZVYLTWIOOLSRQ2nY8IvTEE3XY-5d4PEeCRlUB9QTeCWIH0VKbNY/s320/Angora-Rabbit6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The Angora <a href="http://juliueti.blogspot.com/"><b>rabbit</b></a> is a variety of domestic rabbit bred for its long, soft hair. The Angora is one of the oldest types of domestic rabbit, originating in Ankara, Turkey, along with the Angora cat and Angora goat. The rabbits were popular pets with French royalty in the mid 1700s, and spread to other parts of Europe by the end of the century. They first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s.They are bred largely for their long Angora wool, which may be removed by shearing, combing, or plucking (gently pulling loose wool).There are many individual breeds of Angora rabbits, four of which are ARBA recognized.They are English, French, Giant and Satin. Other breeds include German, Chinese, Swiss and Finnish, to name a few.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOXkq2NGzAVNk-gdyGbkJyhW0TXgjoqbWQdBOLzTHgvIriCD6ixrJjK3fblobnBVtWySqu0-fqVt0zxe6iVv8boyd820OXfPu5q3QPstopuLZqwg5MsxkvkAHfxbsaG1IHZNDBa42cjc8/s320/6a00d8341bf67c53ef0148c834f6b9970c-800wi.jpg" width="212" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Angora Rabbits are active, playful and social with lots of personality. They enjoy the attention of their owner, as well as the companionship of other rabbits and often house angora will nap with a docile mannered cat. They enjoy having toys, for example a plastic ball, a pine cone, a piece of soft wood, a stuffed sock, or an old glove.<br />
<br />
This is the largest of the four ARBA recognized Angora breeds. The only color ARBA officially recognizes for Giant angora is REW (Ruby Eyed White), or as more commonly referred to as an “albino”-indicating the absence of color pigment in the genetic makeup. The Giant Angora produces more wool than the French, Satin or English Angora. Like the German angora Giant Angora rabbits do not molt; And like the German Angora, they require their wool to be clipped or shorn off at least once every 90 days.<br />
<br />
The Giant Angora is the largest of the ARBA accepted angora breeds, having been created by Louise Walsh to be an efficient wool producing rabbit sustained with 16-18% alfalfa based rabbit feed & hay and living in the standard size all wire cages used for commercial breeds. Its coat contains three types of wool: under wool, awl, and guard hair; the awl type wool exists only on the giant and German angora. This breed should have furnishings on the face and ears. Many people confuse German angora with Giant angora, but they are not the same.</div>juliuetihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08762243079221317179noreply@blogger.com0
