I Love Border Collie Very Much

The Border Collie is widely known for its intelligence, trainability, loyalty and strong desire to work. People who needed a willing canine partner that could take on complex tasks driven by their herding instincts have perpetuated these traits in the breed. In 1994 in his book titled, “The Intelligence of Dogs” author Stanley Coren named theBorder Collie as the most intelligent breed. This was in no way a surprise to Border Collie fans, particularly since intelligence was defined by the author as “working” intelligence (a combination of bidability, or willingness/desire to learn, and speed of learning tasks requiring fewer reinforced repetitions to master behaviors). Other breeds may have more ability for scenting tasks, more instinct to retrieve, stronger affinity for swimming, more natural show ring bravado. The Border Collies’ versatility beyond most other breeds is enriched by its physical athleticism and an active canine mind that demonstrates learning and thinking is fun for this breed.
Border Collies and other high-drive herding breeds, dominate the ranks of the working stock dog. In addition, Border Collies can be found at the top levels of nearly every dog sport (agility, flyball, flying disc, luring, tracking, musical canine freestyle, big air, etc.) More recently, Border Collies have been worked with great success at keeping golf courses and airport runways free from geese, ducks and other migrating fowl. A Border Collie can quickly master most things that a dog can be taught to do.

By now, the reader may be thinking that Border Collies just may be the perfect dog. Many Border Collie lovers would agree. There is just one job at which your average Border Collie may consistently fail and that is the role of “couch potato” or “backyard dog”. Border Collies are high energy, active dogs and they need a
job to do. If you don’t provide mental and physical activity that your dog needs, the dog may invent it’s own “games” (which can include habitual behavior like barking, digging and chewing).
This may explain why, during the process of rehoming rescued Border Collies, there is a particular interest in what the adoption applicant plans to DO with the dog. The occasional trip to the dog park or monthly weekend hike is not an adequate routine for most Border Collies.
The special relationship that is observed between a highly trained dog and its human companion is awesome to see. Unfortunately, many families that chose a Border Collie for the first time end up disappointed because they are not set up to expend the time this breed requires. If you are willing and able to spend the time training, exercising, and building a strong bond with your new dog, that special relationship becomes very possible.

Do You Like Guinea Pig

Born with fur, teeth and nails, guinea pig pups will be exploring their new home with open eyes two hours after being born. Within twenty-four hours they will begin to eat hay, produce and pellets like their parents. Every two hours or so they will nurse. Guinea pigs wean from their mother after three or four weeks of life.
You can expect pups that are two or three inches long and weigh three or four ounces. A birth weight that is lower than two ounces means that the pup will most likely die. Generally, babies born to a healthy mother during a normal delivery do survive.
Guinea pig parents participate in caring for their offspring. As long as the father is neutered, you can allow him to be in the cage with the female and the pups. The new family will communicate with one another and probably walk around the cage in a line.
Some male rodents harm or eat their children. Male guinea pigs do not do this. If the father is not neutered, you want to keep him away from the female until he is neutered or she is spayed. (Please note that spaying is a serious operation for female guinea pigs). In the event that you want the female to go through another pregnancy, the father should not be put back in with the female until two or three months after her delivery. This allows her to regain her strength and health.
It helps baby guinea pigs to adjust to human beings if they are held and petted while small. Too much handling causes them stress, so be cautious in your affections. A little bit of human contact each day allows guinea pigs to feel friendlier toward people throughout their lives.
Guinea pig mothers are not put off from caring for their young by the smell of humans on them like birds are. Pups, after two weeks can take care of themselves. Only on rare occasions when a new mother might reject her offspring or dies during delivery will you need to take over raising the babies.
In the event that the mother dies, put the babies in the cage with the father. He will help keep them clean for you and he will teach them how to eat solid food. With no father, you must do all of the work yourself. This includes feeding the pups a milk mixture every two hours and cleaning off their bottoms. The milk mixture consists of twenty-five percent evaporated milk and seventy-five percent boiled and cooled water. Using a bottle or water dropper feed the babies every two hours for the first three days, always wiping off their faces and hair after they have eaten. Use a clean cloth to wipe their genitals and anus two or three times a day. Teach the babies how to eat solid food if the father is not present.

How To Feeding Your Puppy

Having a new puppy into your home is an exciting life event that likely has your entire family looking for the "right" way to do every little thing. Keeping your newest family member well fed with proper nutrition is perhaps the best reward you can give to your new pal. A well nourished pet will lead a much healthier and longer life and is likely to be better behaved as well. Here's a look at the best and simplest ways to make sure your brand-new puppy is getting exactly what he needs to start life off right.
How Long Is My Dog a Puppy?
The first thing you must understand is that your dog only needs puppy nutrion while considered a puppy. This duration varies based mostly on the dogs size. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind is that dogs smaller than about 50 pounds (expected mature weight) will remain a puppy for a full year. Larger dogs take up to two full years to reach mature size and weight. During this time several important changes are happening to your puppy. Internal organs are developing and muscle and bones are growing and maturing. Additionally, your dog is developing an immune system and cognitive brain development. All the more reason why you need to ensure proper and healthy feeding habits now!
What's Best?
The best way to nourish your puppy is to choose a puppy specific food that makes you a COP.
C-Calcium. Look for a food with a strong showing of Calcium, Vitamin D and Phosphorus. These elements help in creating strong bones and teeth. Dental concerns can be costly and painful later in life if the building blocks are not laid properly for a puppy.
O-Omega Acids. Just like in human infants, the presence of Omega fatty acids and Linoleic acids will greatly aid in the development of your puppy's brain. This has also been proven to help create a vibrant coat that shines year round as well as a strong immune system.
P-Protein. No sissy salads for your pup! Dogs are carnivores and need to ingest large amounts of protein in order to stay strong. The protein also aids in development of muscle tone, tissue and organs. Externally, additional protein also helps create a beautiful coat that is strong.
Many puppy chows will have these elements in ratios that vet's agree is best for a developing puppy. Many chows are also specialized for the size of your breed. If you're confused on brand or ratio be sure to call your vet to ask before you go shopping. Chances are they have a favorite brand that they'd be happy to recommend.

Choosing The Safe Toys For Your Lovely Cat

Cats love toys and need them in their daily lives for stimulation, exercise, and most of all fun. There are tons of cat toys available to purchase, and when you are deciding which cat toys to buy your cat, there are some important things to consider. This article discusses some important factors to consider when choosing safe toys for your cat.

The most important thing you need to consider when choosing safe toys for your cat is that there should be no small parts that can become detached from the toy that your cat can ingest. You also want to make sure there are no strings, yarn, or other fabric or material that your cat can pull off of the toy and eat. While cats do love yarn and string, these items can pose a serious health and safety risk to your cat. Never leave your cat unattended with string, yarn or any small objects because they can easily swallow it and it can result in a medical emergency. Cats love to put things in their mouth and if they begin to swallow yarn or string it will result in serious medical problems or even death. Small objects should also be avoided as they can pose a choking risk, and if they do swallow the object it can cause an obstruction or other problems. If you find a toy that you really want to buy for your cat but it has small parts, string or yarn attached, you should remove them and throw them away before giving it to your cat. If you enjoy playing with your cat with yarn or string its should be done only under close and direct supervision with you, and you must take it away from your cat and keep it in a safe place where your cat cannot access it when you are not around.

If you purchase toy mice for your cat, you really should remove the tail, and all small parts such as plastic eyes, ears, etc...Just think of it this way: If you can remove something from the toy, your cat probably will be able to as well. Cats do not care about the plastic eyes, ears, tails made of string etc...they are put on these toys to make them more appealing to the person buying the toy, and your cat will enjoy the toy mice just the same without all these add ons. Chances are, your cat will have access to these toy mice when you are not around and you do not want your cat to pull off and eat potentially harmful objects. If you take the time to choose safe toys for your cat, you can avoid medical emergencies that often result in the cat needing emergency surgery to remove whatever foreign object the cat has eaten.
Consider your cat's natural hunting instinct when purchasing toys to keep your cat stimulated and prevent boredom. There are many kinds of safe toys that you can buy that you place cat food or treats inside. This stimulates your cats brain to try and figure out how to get the food out of the toy. These kinds of toys can keep your cat amused for hours, providing mental stimulation and exercise that all cats need. Again, just make sure you inspect the toy before you give it to your cat to make sure there are no unsafe parts.
Taking the time to choose safe toys for your cat is well worth the effort. You want to provide fun and entertainment for your cat, and toys are a great way to do that. But you always must think like a responsible parent, and inspect each toy before you give it to your cat. A good rule is if you question if something is safe or not, then consider it not safe and either remove it or dont buy the toy. Remove any small parts, or yarn or string or anything else your cat could remove and ingest. If you provide safe toys for your cat, you will prevent any dangers your cat could face and keep a healthy, and safe environment for your feline friend

Border Collie Is My Best Love Pet

Overview
Originating during the 19th century, the Border Collie was so named due to their home of development on the border of Scotland England. This breed was prized for their outstanding herding abilities of any type of livestock. Today the Border Collie is a popular farm worker, family companion, and talented show dog.
Character
The Border Collie is medium-sized, exceptionally athletic, and possesses great endurance. This breeds obsession is their livestock work. They are high energy, confident, and determined. They are light on their feet, have a flowing movement, and are extremely versatile.
Temperament
This breed is intelligent, responsive, and devoted to their master and work. The Border Collie is extremely sensitive and thrives on human interaction. They are not recommended for the novice, sedentary or apathetic dog owner or for a home with a two-career family. They do not do well if left alone for extended periods of time and will suffer separation anxiety or become destructive. Border Collies do best in a home with older considerate children. They typically get along with dogs they have been raised with but should not be in a home with cats or other small household pets. This breeds inherent work ethic will lead them to attempt to herd anything and everything that moves.
Care
The Border Collie requires weekly brushing. Special attention should be given to the coat during shedding. Bathing or dry shampooing should only be done when necessary. This breed is prone to PRA, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, deafness, Collie Eye Anomaly, and allergies to fleas.

Coat
The Border Collie comes in two coat varieties: rough or smooth. Both varieties are double coat and weather resistant and are close fitting and thick. The outer coat is either wavy or straight and coarse in texture. The under coat is dense, short, and soft. The rough coat variety has fur of medium length. The chest, forelegs, underside, and haunches are feathered. The coat on the face, front of legs, ears, and feet is smooth and short. The smooth variety has fur of short length over the entire body and there may be slight feathering on the chest, ruff, haunches, and forelegs. The color of the coat comes in all colors or combination of colors and markings. They may be solid, merle, sable, bi-color, or tri-color. Border Collies are average shedders.
Training
Early socialization and obedience are recommended. The Border Collie is easily trained and does best with praise, consistency, fairness, respect, and firmness. Due to their extremely sensitive nature this breed must never be treated in a harsh or heavy-handed manner. They are exceedingly talented in herding, police work, competitive obedience, search and rescue, Frisbee trials, and Flyball. Border Collies are also used successfully as therapy dogs and guide dogs for the blind.
Activity
The Border Collie has an inordinate amount of energy and requires more than physical exercise. They thrive on work, play, mental stimulation, and close contact with their owner and family. They are not recommended for apartment or city dwelling. They do best on a working farm or in a rural secluded setting where they are able to romp, run, and roam freely and safely.
